Every manager wants a goalscorer. That man you can rely on to stick the ball in the net from absolutely nothing and propel you to untold glories. That’s the theory anyway.
However, when you look down the answers in our Champions top scorers quiz, it’s most striking that finding a man who is going to sit at the top of the scoring charts doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to win promotion. Or, in fact, that they’ll be any good in the league above if they do.
If you can name every winner of the second tier’s golden boot since it became the First Division (and latterly the Championship) then you deserve a chance the highest level, though.
