The Set Odds’ 4-4-2 Betting System: Post-Weekend Review [Week 12]

Hello all,

It was another agonising weekend for The 4-4-2 System, but particularly seeing the 248/1 Lucas Joao bet miss out by just one result as three out of four flew in.

Man City, Bristol City and Accrington all won and conceded against West Brom, Sunderland and Barnet respectively, but Watford sadly failed against Stoke.

I, like many others, really fancied the exciting Hornets to defeat an average Stoke at home on Saturday so the only bit of the bet I was concerned about was them conceding.

They did that early on and then proceeded to have 70 per cent of possession, 15 shots, but none on target, losing 1-0.

I just do not understand football sometimes.

Elsewhere, the Hornets stung us in their leg of the Win 5fold but high-flying Cardiff only drew at home to Millwall and Rotherham suffered a shock 3-1 home loss to Gillingham so it would’ve been dead and buried regardless.

The Millers also cost the 11/2 Mixed Multiple as both teams scored in Sunderland v Bristol City and Hull v Forest meaning a Rotherham win by more than a goal was required to land the bet.

Before Saturday, Rotherham had won six out of seven at home, scoring 21 goals in the process, an average of a three a match.

I just do not understand football sometimes.

I was just an Alexandre Lacazette goal away from landing the Anytime Goalscorer bet as Leo Bonatini (Wolves) and Kieffer Moore (Rotherham) both netted and Sergio Aguero didn’t play for City at West Brom.

Pep Guardiola’s team selection is proving as tricky to predict as the results, but at least that’s working for him.

One thing I did get right on Saturday was leaving Wolves alone. Every man and his dog has been going crazy about how amazing they are this season but they’re not invincible and have suffered three League defeats already – more than Cardiff and Bristol City.

As I was saying in last week’s Post-Weekend Review, it’s still really early days in the Championship so their previous price of odds-on to win the division seems really short. They’re out to slightly odds against now.

I don’t fancy anything in the Long-Term Bet market today, but there is plenty to bet on this week when the Champions League returns on Tuesday and Wednesday, and there is a full Championship fixture list – so look out for a bonus blog on Tuesday.
