Man Utd continue to look unconvincing under Jose Mourinho as they’re down in in the league after they were well beaten by Liverpool, while they’ve also struggled in this competition as they were beaten by Feyenoord and could only manage to beat Zorya 1-0 at home. Fenerbahce currently top the group with four points but they’re in poor form domestically having won just two of their first seven Super Lig games, though they’ll hope for an inspired performance from Robin van Persie against his former club.
While they’ve lost seven of their last eight European away games, Utd have a W8-D3-L0 record at Old Trafford in Europe since 2013/14. They kept a clean sheet in six of these games, though scored more than twice only three times and as a result five of their victories were by just a single goal. We have Fenerbahce ranked as the 51st best side in Europe and Utd’s record when hosting sides between 25th and 100th is just W2-D5-L4 since 2009/10 as they again failed to win any of these games by more than one.
After a couple of seasons’ absence from European action, Fenerbahce were strong travellers last term as they lost just one of their five road games, drawing at Celtic and Ajax. However, their poor domestic form is a concern and we expect them to set themselves to be tough to beat. With that in mind, we’re backing United to win by just the one goal, with Draw/Utd Half Time/Full Time also making appeal at 4.33.
Best Bet: Manchester United 1 Goal Winning Margin at 2.5
