Wales started their World Cup qualification campaign in fine fashion as they were 4-0 winners at home to Moldova with star-man Gareth Bale netting a brace, but they should face a tougher test here. They travel to an Austrian side seeking to make amends for a disappointing Euros that saw them knocked out in the group stages after scoring just one goal, though they were 2-1 winners in Georgia in their opening qualification game.
At home, Austria tend to be more prolific in front of goal as they’ve netted in 15 of their last 16, though the exception was in their last home match which saw them lose a friendly against the Netherlands 2-0. Indeed, their home record against sides in the world’s top 50 according to our rankings is just W4-D4-L11 since 2011, with defeats in the last four of these matches.
Wales have lost just one of their last six competitive road games and are certainly in excellent form having won four of their last five games as European Champions Portugal are the only side to have beaten them in that time. With Bale continuing his excellent form and netting Real’s only goal against Eibar on Sunday, we’re backing him to get on the scoresheet again and add to his tally of five goals in his last six games for Wales, who we’re siding with to win and make it two from two in qualification.
Recommendation: Wales Win at 3.50
Gareth Bale to Score Anytime at 2.20
