Watford v Manchester City
15:00 - 21/5/2017 - Vicarage Road, Watford
Watford put in a spirited performance at Stamford Bridge but still lost 4-3 in their fifth successive defeat. Sebastian Prodl, one of only two fit centre-backs in the squad, got sent off in the dying seconds leaving Walter Mazzarri with a real selection problem with the unfancied Mariappa the only central defender available. This is not an ideal situation as they welcome an in-form Man City looking to confirm their automatic Champions League spot for next year.
City have been playing some free-flowing football of late and arguably should have score more than the 10 goals in their recent three victories. Gabriel Jesus has scored in the last two and the young Brazilian looks an outstanding prospect, bagging six goals in just his first seven Premier League starts and is a good bet to net again versus this depleted Hornets defence.
The Citizens have had few problems brushing aside the division’s weaker outfits, winning 12 of 15 unbeaten matches against the current bottom-eight, which includes six wins from seven on the road, scoring at least twice in each. Watford meanwhile, have lost all seven games against the top-four, yielding at least four goals in four of these and with their problems at the back it could be another messy afternoon.
