Crystal Palace v Hull City
12:00 - 14/5/2017 - Selhurst Park, South London
Crystal Palace were handed a whipping from Man City in what was their third consecutive defeat without scoring. They’re by no means safe from relegation as they face one of the two teams that can catch them in Hull. The Tigers are four points behind, but suffered a devastating loss at home to Sunderland last time out to drop back into the relegation zone, making this a must win game.
A draw will be enough to ensure Palace’s Premier League status for next year, but it would be a bold tactic to just sit back and play for a point with the current injury crisis surrounding their defence. Mamadou Sakho, who’s made such an impact since joining in January, as well as Scott Dann and James Tomkins are all injured with full-backs Martin Kelly and Jeffrey Schlupp filling in as centre-backs. As a result, they’ve kept just one clean sheet in eight with six of these having at least three goals.
Hull are going to have to overcome an atrocious away record if they are to avoid relegation, especially with their final home game against Spurs. Since winning their first road game at Swansea, they’ve lost 14 of 17 winless matches, but will take confidence from Burnley, who also have a poor away record, winning at Selhurst Park a few weeks ago. Marco Silva’s side showed plenty of attacking ability against Sunderland, but were only denied by the heroics of Jordan Pickford, and as they must go for it, we’ll side with Over 2.5 goals.
