FK Rostov v Manchester Utd
15:00
Utd are as short as 3.0 for the Europa League after they eased past St Etienne in the last round and have been handed a draw with Rostov. The Russians began their European campaign in the Champions League, where they were always going to struggle with Bayern and Atletico in their group, but they sauntered past Sparta Prague in the last round of the Europa League to earn this tie with Utd.
Rostov aren’t having the best of seasons domestically as they’re only 7th out of 16 in the Russian Premier League, but their home form has been excellent as they’ve won seven of nine unbeaten games, conceding only two goals. They beat Bayern 3-2 at home in the Champions League, whilst they managed a draw against PSV and were edged out 1-0 by Atletico. That represents strong form and since they thumped Sparta Prague 4-0 in the first leg last round, they look to have been underestimated by the market here.
Utd are unbeaten in nine games, but were held to a 1-1 draw at home to struggling Bournemouth on the weekend, who were also reduced to 10 men before the break. The Red Devils have won their last two away in Europe, but the strength of the opposition can certainly be questioned as they beat Zorya and St-Etienne, whilst prior to that they’d lost eight of nine winless away games on the continent. As such they look too short at 1.73 and so we’re backing Rostov to pick up at least a point.
