Watford v West Ham
17.30 - 25/2/2017 - Vicarage Road, Watford
Watford’s four-game unbeaten run in the league might have ended on their trip to Old Trafford, but a stretch of nine home games in which they’ve experienced defeat just twice should give the Hornets confidence ahead of West Ham’s visit on Saturday evening. The visitors have won three of their last four on the road, but with Andy Carroll potentially missing out owing to a groin strain, Slaven Bilic’s men will have to work hard to overcome the Hornets at home.
Both these teams have had fairly inconsistent records against middle-third teams over the last two seasons. Watford have won three of their last four at home against middle-third sides and beat West Ham at the London Stadium earlier in the season, but recent failures to win against Millwall, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough will have given the Vicarage Road faithful reason to doubt their team’s attacking prowess. West Ham are undefeated in their last five against middle-third sides, but they’ve conceded in each of their last eight away games, with four of their last five seeing more than three goals.
With West Ham’s away games tending to feature goals and 10 of Watford’s last 14 home games going over 2.5 goals, we’ll back Overs here.
