Chelsea v Swansea
15:00 - 25/2/2017 - Stamford Bridge, West London
Chelsea couldn’t find a winning goal against Burnley last time out in the league, but after a hard-earned away win in the FA Cup against Wolves they’ll feel confident of beating Swansea at Stamford Bridge, where they’ve won nine straight in the league. Swansea’s resurgence under Paul Clement has been impressive – they beat Leicester at the Liberty Stadium last time out to move to 15th, four points clear of the drop zone – but after winning only two of their last 12 away games they will struggle to take anything home from West London.
Chelsea’s record this season is daunting for any team, but particularly for bottom-six sides. They’ve won their last five straight against such opposition, all of which were wins to nil in which they went 1-0 up before half time. Swansea, by contrast, have lost seven of their nine games against top-six sides, including three of their four road games in this run – their only win across that nine-game stretch was their impressive victory at Anfield recently. Chelsea are the second-most prolific team in the league and Swansea have the league’s worst defence, so it would not be a surprise to see Chelsea put plenty past the Swans.
Chelsea’s excellent home record makes a big home win more than likely, but there’s a chance Paul Clement’s Swansea may be more resilient in defence. We still think Conte will aim to take the lead early and consolidate, though, so Chelsea/Chelsea HT/FT is a good option here.
