Monaco made it five wins in six unbeaten games as they won 2-1 at Montpellier to maintain their three point lead over PSG at the top of the table. Metz also picked up an important win as they beat fellow strugglers Dijon 2-1 at home to move up to 12th in their battle to stay in the division following promotion.
Monaco have won 10 of their 12 home games this term, scoring 41 goals in the process (3.4 gpg). They’ve kept five clean sheets in their last seven at the Stade Louis II and they’ll fancy their chances of making it six in eight against a Metz side that has struggled for goals throughout this season, averaging just over a goal per game.
Metz have in fact failed to score in eight of their 12 road games, trailing at both half-time and full-time in four of their last five on their travels. They’ve failed to find the net against both Nice and PSG, where they lost 3-0, and we expect something similar here, particularly as they’ve shipped seven at bottom-half sides Caen and Nancy in recent times. The Monaco win to nil is 2.15, while they’re 2.4 to cover the -2 handicap and we’re going to opt for the latter as our best bet, given how free-scoring Leonardo Jardim’s side have been all season.
