Swansea v Southampton
15:00
A shock win against Liverpool last time out propelled Swansea out of the drop zone, and they have a chance to put daylight between themselves and the relegation places when they take on Southampton at home on Tuesday night. Claude Puel’s squad rotation backfired horribly against Arsenal in the FA Cup at the weekend, and despite booking an EFL Cup final berth, the Saints will have had their confidence knocked after their 5-0 humbling by the Gunners – a win here could help them move into the top half of the table.
Despite Southampton’s poor recent away record (they’ve won just once in their last four away matches in all competition and they’ve lost their last two away against bottom-six sides), the Saints will feel optimistic about securing a sixth win in their last seven attempts against Swansea. The hosts have lost four of their last five against middle-third sides, and all of those losses have been in games that saw more than two goals. Given that they’ve also conceded at least three in five of their last six home games, this has the potential to be a high-scoring encounter, especially since Southampton have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven away games. With these two teams far from watertight at the back, we’ll back Over 2.5 Goals.
