Juventus v Lazio
15:00
Juventus suffered their fourth defeat of the season as they were beaten 2-1 at Fiorentina and as a result their lead over Roma has been cut to just a single point, though the champions do have a game in hand. Lazio are four points further back in 4th after they made it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 win at home to Atalanta last time out.
All four of Juve’s defeats have come on the road but at home they remain imperious, winning their last 26 at Juventus Stadium. Eight of their 10 victories this term have been W/W doubles, whilst they’ve already beaten fellow top-six sides Roma and Napoli, though just by a single goal. Indeed, Juve have remarkably won all 27 of their home games against top-six sides since 2011/12, though five of their seven wins since the start of last season were by just a single goal, with four 1-0 scorelines.
Lazio have lost and failed to score at both the Milan clubs this term, whilst they also lost and failed to score in their three visits to the top-three last season. Indeed, with Keita Balde at the African Cup of Nations, we expect them to struggle to get on the scoresheet once again: Form Lab Black Player tell us that Lazio score 28% fewer goals in the nine games he’s missed this term. Indeed, he missed both defeats at the Milan clubs and also the 0-1 home loss to Juve earlier on in the season and so we’re backing Juve to Win and Under 2.5 Goals, given their home games against the top teams have tended to be tight in recent times.
