Liverpool v Swansea
12.30 - 21/1/17 - Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool conceded an equaliser six minutes from time at Man Utd on Sunday, and while they will have enjoyed taking points home from Old Trafford, they will have been frustrated that they could not hold on for a win that would have seen them move to second. They have an FA Cup replay against Plymouth midweek, but Jurgen Klopp will have his sights firmly on this eminently winnable game against Swansea on Saturday in the league.
Swansea have endured a torrid run of form against top-six sides. They’ve lost six of the seven games they’ve played against such opposition this season, and they’ve conceded at least two in each of those games; coincidentally, Liverpool have scored exactly two in four of their last five against bottom-six sides, none of which they’ve lost (although they’ve drawn two of the last three such games 2-2).
Swansea haven’t scored in either of their last two games against top-six sides, but with Matip out and Liverpool still far from convincing defensively, there’s a good chance they could net here. Indeed, since four of Liverpool’s last five at home against bottom-six sides and four of Swansea’s last seven at all venues have seen more than three goals, we’re backing Over 3.5 Goals.
