Stefano Pioli’s appointment has seen an immediate improvement in Inter’s results as they’ve now won their last four to move up to 7th, now just five points behind Napoli in 3rd. Chievo are moving the other way after back-to-back defeats in tough fixtures against top-six sides Roma and Atalanta and it doesn’t get any easier for them here. They’ve slipped down to 11th, a couple of places below their 9th place finish last term.
Inter have now won their last five at the San Siro, scoring 14 in the process and keeping three clean sheets. Indeed, they’ve won 13 of their last 17 at home, including their last seven against top-half sides and with the likes of Perisic and Icardi in excellent form, we expect them to have too much for their visitors here.
Chievo have lost three of their last four on the road and indeed their last nine visits to top-eight teams. They failed to score in five of these losses and also trailed at the break in five, while six of the defeats were by more than one goal. Indeed, since Inter have won their last four at the San Siro by more than one goal, we’re backing the hosts to continue their excellent run and cover the -1 handicap.
