Leganes v Atletico Madrid
This is Leganes’s first ever season in La Liga and they got their campaign off to the best possible start as they won 1-0 at last season’s 6th Celta Vigo. Atletico, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw at home to promoted Alaves, despite Kevin Gameiro netting a 93rd penalty as Alaves equalised in the 95th. Diego Simeone will no doubt be relieved that Euro 2016 top scorer Antoine Griezmann can return to the side here after his suspension to add some firepower to the front line.
Atleti won 13 of their 19 road games last term, whilst their record when travelling to bottom-six sides since 2013/14 is W12-D2-L4 as they led at the break in half of these games and kept 10 clean sheets. Simeone’s men have also won five of their six trips to promoted sides in the last couple of seasons, leading at the break in all these matches and keeping a clean sheet in half.
Leganes lost only two of their 21 home matches last term in the Segunda, but this of course a much stiffer test and with Griezmann back in the side, we expect Atleti to pick up their first win of the season here.
Recommendation: Atletico/Atletico HT/FT at 2.50
