Everton v Stoke
Everton came from behind to pick-up a well-deserved three points at West Brom to continue their encouraging start under ex-Saints boss Ronald Koeman. They’ve an excellent opportunity here to go into the International break with their unbeaten record intact as they host a Stoke side that were fortunate to pick up a point in their opener before becoming Agueriola’s latest victim last weekend.
Stoke finished above Everton last season so it’s a little surprising to see the latter installed as comfortably odds-on favourites here. Both of these sides are Premier League regulars but it’s the Potters’ who have had the better of their matches in recent years. Since 2010/11, Stoke have won five of the 12 head-to-heads while three of the games have been tied (all at the Brittania Stadium).
Where Everton really struggled in 2015/16 was at the back as they kept only three home clean sheets. Worse still, those clean sheets came against the three teams that were eventually relegated. Stoke, meanwhile, have found the net in six of their last seven on the road. They are odds-against to gain at least a point despite losing just eight of their 20 on the road since the start of last season.
