Burnley v Liverpool
Liverpool produced the best 20 minutes of football from the opening weekend as they ripped apart the Arsenal defence with explosive pace to score three quickfire second-half goals. With Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana and Mane and Sturridge to come back they certainly look a force in attack. The test now for Klopp’s men is to produce on a consistent basis, something they failed to do last season where they followed impressive away wins and Chelsea and Man City with a string of poor results.
Burnley will be disappointed to have not come away with anything in their opener against Swansea. They created plenty of chances but weren’t clinical enough in their finishing, which perhaps could be a recurring theme this season.
With a question mark still over the Liverpool defence the Clarets should get plenty of chances to open their account this weekend. Recently the Reds have been involved in plenty of high scoring games when visiting promoted sides, including that 5-4 thriller against Norwich last season. Since 2012/13, 10 of Liverpool’s 12 away fixtures to Premier League newcomers finished with at least three goals and eight saw four or more strikes.
With this in mind we can see Burnley netting for the first time this season but with the gulf in class in their attacking players Liverpool should outscore them.
