Sunderland v Swansea

15:00 - 13/5/2017 - Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Relegated Sunderland did Swansea a massive favour by turning Hull over in their own back yard and that combined with their win over Everton means the Swans now have their destiny in their own hands. With the pressure off, The Black Cats could be a difficult proposition, but they have the worst home record of any team in the division, failing to win any of their last nine without scoring in six of these.

Swansea have picked up a vital seven points from their last three, but on the road they’ve lost six of seven winless matches. Their record against the current bottom-six this term reads W4-D2-L4 with three of these four defeats coming on their travels. Sunderland have won half of their four home games versus the same opposition and going back to last season it’s just three losses in nine such matches.

We’ll avoid Swansea at odds-on, but with it difficult to predict how the hosts are going to perform we’ll refrain from backing them as well. Instead, we’ll bank at least one side not scoring. Both are struggling for goals, with Sunderland firing a blank in 11 of their last 14, while the Swans have netted just six in their last nine and only one in four on the road.
