Lyon slumped to a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Lorient last time out as they look set to battle it out with Bordeaux and Marseille for the Europa League spot in Ligue 1, which they currently occupy with a two point cushion whilst they also have a game in hand. Monaco continue to impress as they beat Dortmund 3-1 to secure a semi-final berth in the Champions League, whilst they’ve also won their last six in the league to maintain their position at the top of the division.
Lyon have won 11 of their 16 home games this term and they’ve been in impressive scoring form, netting 18 in their last five at the Parc OL. However, only two of the top-five have visited them so far and they lost both of these games, 3-1 against Bordeaux and 2-1 against PSG. As such, we’re looking to take them on at 2.38, which looks a very short price against the league leaders, who seem to have been underestimated by bookmakers throughout the season.
Leonardo Jardim’s side are unbeaten in 11 on their travels, including a 1-1 draw at PSG and comfy 4-1 and 4-0 victories at top-six sides Marseille and Bordeaux. They’ve kept only one clean sheet in six trips to top-eight teams so far, but such is their firepower that we think that shouldn’t be too much of a problem, particularly against a Lyon side that shipped four against relegation candidates Lorient in their last home game. We’re backing Monaco to win and both teams to score.
