Las Palmas continue to impress in La Liga after their promotion for the 2015/16 season when they managed to finish up in 11th, as they currently sit 10th having lost just five of their 16 games so far. Gijon, on the other hand, are embroiled in another relegation battle as they’re down in 18th after they narrowly avoided the drop last term.
Las Palmas are in fact unbeaten at home, winning half of their eight games and they’ve lost just three of their last 20 at the Estadio Gran Canaria, with those defeats coming against Real, Barca and Atletico. When hosting bottom-six sides they’re W3-D3-L2 since the start of last season, which might suggest they’re too short at 1.7, but their visitors have been poor travelers so far this season.
Gijon have picked up just two points from their eight road games and have won only once in their last 23 away. However, when travelling to teams between 8th and 13th they’re W2-D4-L4 since the start of last season, with each of those defeats by just a single goal. Indeed, because Las Palmas have won just two of their last 12, we’re weary of backing them at a short price as they’ve drawn six times in that period and as a result the stalemate looks the best value here once again.
