Chelsea v Arsenal

12.30 - 4/2/2017 - Stamford Bridge, West London

Diego Costa missed the chance to give Chelsea a late lead from the spot at Anfield, but they’ll have had few complaints with a draw at Liverpool and they now host an Arsenal side that suffered an unexpected loss to Watford midweek. That loss leaves them level on points with Spurs, and they will need a win at Stamford Bridge to maintain the pressure on a Chelsea side currently nine points clear at the top.

Chelsea have not conceded at home to Arsenal since January 2013, but they have not fared very well against top-six sides so far this season. The draw with Liverpool was their first match against a top-six side since their loss to Spurs, and the win against Man City at the Etihad was far from deserved. That said, Arsenal have now gone six games without a win away at a top-six side, drawing four and losing two in that stretch. They’ve been level or better at the half in seven consecutive games against top-six sides at all venues but have won just once in that stretch, so it seems they have a problem with closing out games against big teams.

Chelsea have drawn the first half in six of their last 10 at home to top-six sides, and Arsenal have drawn the first half in three of their last four away against top-six sides. With that in mind, we’ll back the half-time draw.
