Bournemouth v Stoke

15:00 - 6/5/2017 - Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth

Bournemouth were the side to officially send Sunderland down with victory at the Stadium of Light, their second in a row after hammering Middlesbrough 4-0 last time at home. Stoke’s troubles in front of goal continued with a goalless draw with West Ham meaning they’ve now netted just five in their last eight, three of which came at home to Hull. Conversely, it was a welcome return for Jack Butland who put in a man of the match performance in just his second game back.

The Potters have been particularly poor on the road, losing eight of their last 10 with their only victory in this time at Championship-bound Sunderland, while alarmingly they’ve not scored in six. Their usual 9th placed finish certainly looks in jeopardy with Bournemouth one of the sides currently above them in the standings.

The Cherries have won three of their last four at home with only a defeat to Chelsea spoiling this run. They’ve won five from eight against the current bottom-half at the Vitality Stadium and there is plenty of motivation for Eddie Howe’s men as victory here would go a long way to securing a top-half finish, something that was unthinkable a few seasons back. Even with Stoke’s lack of recent goals we’re unwilling to back the Bournemouth win to nil considering they’ve conceded a least twice in seven of their last nine at home, so instead are happy to side with just the home win.
