Barcelona were unable to capitalize on the draw in the Madrid derby as they suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Malaga to remain three points behind Real, who also have a game in hand, whilst the Catalans also suffered a 3-0 defeat at Juve in midweek. Sociedad picked up their first win in five as they won 3-1 at home to Gijon and so they’re back up to 6th.
Whilst they continue to struggle on the road, Barca remain in impressive form at the Nou Camp, where they’ve won their last eight, the latest of which was a resounding 3-0 victory over Sevilla. Indeed, they’ve won and led at half-time in all four of their home games against teams between 4th and 10th, scoring 15 goals across these whilst conceding just one.
Sociedad have trailed at the break in four of their last five and have looked vulnerable defensively as they’re without a clean sheet in seven. They’ve lost all five of their trips to top-eight teams this term, failing to score in three and conceding at least twice in four. They lost this fixture 4-0 last term and we could see something similar here. We’re backing Barca to bounce back from a couple of disappointing away results and cover the -2 handicap.
